Marketing & Events Specialist (Part-Time)

Are you brimming with enthusiasm, have a determined interest in public libraries, and a passion for warm and friendly customer service? At the Hillside Public Library, our staff works together across departments to help each other make things happen. We bend over backward in service to our community. As our Marketing & Events Specialist, you will work with all staff to manage the creation, selection, budgeting, scheduling, evaluation, and marketing of library programs for our community. We are embarking on a new strategic plan that outlines a new brand identity, new website, and new service philosophy, and you will play a major part in helping us redefine our role. You will work to meet the needs of our patrons by providing reference service using a variety of print and digital resources. Your great sense of humor, appreciation for the printed word, and interest in technology and innovation will help you succeed in this role. Part time, 28 hours per week, prorated PTO, and participation in IMRF. Schedule includes weekends by rotation and occasional evening shifts.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and one year of successful work in a public contact position, or one year of experience marketing programs and events. Spanish speakers are particularly encouraged to apply.

Compensation begins at $20.00 per hour depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Applicants with a completed ALA-accredited master’s degree will begin in a higher pay grade.
