Pfizer Vaccine for Children Ages 5 & Older
Pfizer Vaccine Now Approved for Children Ages 5 and older!
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for kids ages 5-11. Clinical studies have shown the vaccine to be safe and very effective, preventing 90% of symptomatic infections in children ages 5-11. Kids also had fewer side effects from the vaccine than teens and adults.
Anyone over the age of 5 years old can get vaccinated—it is free for all, regardless of insurance or immigration status.

There are dozens of COVID-19 vaccination locations across Cook County, including Walgreens, CVS, Jewel-Osco and Meijer. Most require or recommend making an appointment.

Mask Requirements
Face masks are required for everyone entering the library regardless of vaccination status. If you don’t have a mask when entering the library, a mask can be provided at the Circulation desk.
