Gene Ha will be coming to Hillside Public Library to give a talk on
“How to Draw anything!”
Saturday, October 14 from Noon-2 pm

“Gene Ha will answer all of your questions about how to draw ANYTHING you’d like to learn to draw! People, buildings, cars, animals: what would you like to draw better?” NY Times best selling comic book artist Gene Ha is best known for his work with writer Alan Moore, Top 10 and its prequel The Forty-Niners. He has won 4 Eisner awards, the highest honor in American comics. He writes and draws the comic book Mae. It’s the story of Mae Fortell, a girl who follows her long missing sister Abbie to a world of mad science and mystery. Gene Ha lives outside Chicago in Berwyn, IL with his lovely wife Lisa. Anime Club for Grades 7-12
Hillside Public Library’s first ever anime club for teens is here to stay, by popular demand! Bring a friend and come on down to watch some amazing anime films while eating some pocky, and other delicious Japanese snacks. (Registration is required.)

Want to be a part of our ever growing Teen Advisory Board? Want to earn some service hours for
school? Sure you do! All teens (Grades 7-12) are welcome. Have any suggestions on programming? Is there a club or
activity you’d like to start at the library that is not already in place? Come be heard on what you would like to happen

Tulip Planting for Grades 7-12
Saturday, October 7 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm
Come be a part of creating Hillside Public Library’s tulip garden. This is a great opportunity for teens in Grades 7-12 to help out in their community, and create something beautiful, while working together with other peers. Service hours will be given for this activity, if you need them for school
please be sure to bring your paperwork with to be signed and dated, by the young adult librarian. (Registration is required.)

Friday the 13th Fright Night for Grades 7-12

Come and enjoy Teen Horror Movie Night for the first time here at Hillside Public Library! An early dinner will be served before the spooky festivities take place! (Registration required.)

YA Craft Corner for Grades 7-12
Friday, September 22 from 4:30-7:00 pm
Back to School Craft Day: Come make cool shrinky dink keychains of your favorite fandoms. (print out pictures beforehand.)
Friday, October 27 from 4:30-7:00 pm
Leaf Prints: Come create some cool leaf prints and learn some of the basic fundamentals of printmaking.
Friday, November 3 from 4:30-7:00 pm
Popsicle Stick Silhouettes: Paint a background color, then draw or trace a black silhouette of whatever you want!
Friday, December 1 from 4:30-7:00 pm
Fandom Banners: Make a cool banner of your favorite characters from a book, movie, tv series, anime, etc. and decorate your room with it!

Sci-fi/Fantasy Club for Grades 7-12
Hillside Public Library’s first ever Sci-fi/fantasy club for teens is debuting Saturday, September 23 from 1:30-4:00 pm. We will be having a different theme every month. Bring a friend and come on down to explore some of the awesome worlds of Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Monster films, and much more! Snacks will be served. (Registration is required.)

Teen Advisory Board Bake Sale for Grades 7-12

Come out and support our teens at Hillside Public Library, at our first ever teen advisory board bake sale. We’re raising money for our programs and buying t-shirts for our clubs. We appreciate your patronage, and we hope you enjoy our baked goods.

Super Smash Bros. Tournament for Grades 7-12
Friday, November 17 4:30-7:00 pm
Do you like playing videos games? Do you love pizza? Do you like to hang out with your friends? Do you like winning prizes?! Well then Hillside Public Library has the night for you! Come in and play some of Nintendo’s iconic characters, and be a part of an awesome tournament where you can test your skills against your friends! (Registration is required.)
