Re-Opening FAQs

To ensure the safety of patrons and staff, the library will provide limited services.  Everyone entering the library must wear a face covering at all times and practice social distancing (6 feet or 2 arms’ length).  Hand sanitizer will be available to patrons throughout the library.    

Who can come into the library? Everyone is welcome, but if you are feeling sick (fever, coughing, etc.), for the safety of other patrons and staff, we ask that you please not visit the library. 

What hours will the library be open?

The library will be open:

Monday-Friday  11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Last curbside service appointment is 6:30 p.m.)

Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  (The last curbside service appointment is 4:30 p.m.)

Sunday – Closed

Will you still continue to offer curbside service?  Yes.

Can I request an item from another library and pick it up at the Hillside Public Library? Yes.

How long can I be in the library? At this time, we ask that patrons keep their visits to no more than 1 hour

How many people will be allowed in the library?  Only 15 patrons will be allowed in the library at one time. 

Can I come in to use a computer? As of Saturday, May 1, 2021, a limited number of public computers will be available for use without an appointment. Each patron will be allowed to use the computer for a maximum time of one hour a day.

I need help with my personal laptop (or other electronic device). Can I request a one-on-one computer help appointment? At this time, we are unable to accommodate one-on-one computer help appointments.

I need to print a document.  Can I have it printed at the library?  Yes, please email us the document(s) you wish to be printed to hillsidedocuments405@gmail.com.  Once we receive the document we will not be able to alter your documents (crop, enlarge, etc.).  After you have emailed the document, call the library at (708)449-7510 to arrange a pickup time.  The cost to print is $.10 for black and white and $.25 for color. 

Can I use the scanner and/or the copier?  Yes, one copier and a scanner will be available for use.  However, for your safety, staff will not be able to provide copier or scanner assistance.

Are faxing services available?  Yes. 

Will notary services be available? Yes, notary services will be available by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call Robin at (708)449-7510 or email her at rfuener@hillsidelibrary.org.

Will the restrooms and water fountains be accessible?  Yes, restrooms will be accessible, but the water fountain will not be accessible.

Can I reserve a conference room?  At this time, patrons are unable to reserve our conference rooms.
