Library Scholarship

The Hillside Public Library will award a $500.00 scholarship for college or university expenses. The Hillside Public Library Scholarship Fund was established March 31, 1976. All applicants must be a US citizen, a registered voter, and a resident of the Village of Hillside for a period of not less than one year. Applicants can be a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or a graduate student attending an accredited college or university. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 (or better) on a 4.0 scholastic scale. Applicants can major in any field of study. Awards shall be determined by proof of eligibility and worthiness by the presentation of copies of academic, leadership, service, activity records, together with any recommendations.

The completed application, including a required essay and pertinent documentation, should be mailed or delivered to the Hillside Public Library, at 405 North Hillside Avenue, Hillside, Illinois, 60162, marked to the “Scholarship Fund Committee”, by the application due date of November 1, 2016. Scholarship award does not have to be based on monetary need.

The required essay of approximately 250 words on the following topic is required:
“How do you see the library of the future best serving the community?”
